Hypnotherapy Questions and Answers

Can I be Hypnotised?

The question is not “can I be hypnotised”, in my opinion, the question is rather: “when I am hypnotised, how will I know?” Quite simply, everyone goes through the state of hypnosis every day when they wake up from sleep, and every night when they go off to sleep. It is, simply put, the in-between stage between sleep and awake. You are not asleep as such, your body is very relaxed and sleep-like, but your mind is very much aware and awake. It is a very pleasant feeling of being deeply relaxed, but at the same time, hearing the words, and allowing yourself to accept your chosen goals which are being suggested to you while you listen. There is no sign that jumps up and tells you that you are in hypnosis. Quite the contrary, often people feel no different at all, apart from feeling very relaxed. However, some people do feel their hands or arms a bit tingly, some people may feel very light, or very heavy. There are also definite signs which will prove to you that you have been in hypnosis, which I will explain to you after the session so that you can know for sure. The ultimate sign is that the therapy works for you.

Do you control my mind?

No. This is not Stage Hypnosis, nor is it anything to do with Stage Hypnosis, nor is it mind control by the hypnotherapist. You are in full control of your mind. It is using the power within your own mind to achieve positive goals which you have chosen, through your own capabilities. Please remember that Stage Hypnosis is only for entertainment purposes. Hypnosis Shows are indeed that – SHOWS! It is entertainment, pure and simple. Hypnotherapy is totally different, and YOU remain in control at all times.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a treatment therapy, that for most problems does not require you to go into the deep amnesia state that Stage hypnosis relies on. It is then given in spoken form which is read to you while you are in the hypnotic state (the state when your subsconscious mind is most receptive to accepting these instructions). You are always able to hear and understand every word that I say. I am your guide in instructing your subsconscious mind with what you have decided that you want to achieve. This is done completely with the power of your own mind. I write you a therapy depending upon the information that you give me, and it is tailored to your specific requirements.

Why does hypnotherapy work when other methods may have failed?

Sometimes our brains and bodies are not entirely in agreement with one another. Our Creator has luckily allowed for us to have a way of connecting our physical selves with our mental selves for enhancing greater health, balance and harmony of the body and mind. It is well known that we only use about 10% of our brains. With a few simple techniques, we can find and utilise our state of mind which gives us greater access to the other 90% of our minds which we have often been ignoring and taking for granted. This creates a co-ordination between our minds and bodies to allow our health and our abilities to reach greater potentials in life than we give ourselves credit for.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

I believe it is always best to go to a qualified hypnotherapist who you feel comfortable with. If for any reason you feel uncomfortable about anything, I would appreciate you letting me know, as I would rather that you are happy with the procedure, and we can use another prodecure if necessary. People with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, major depression, or bi-polar disorders, need to be under the supervision of their doctor or psychiatric practitioner if doing hypnotherapy as it may not be right for them. Apart from that, I personally do not believe that any harm can be done through the natural methods of hypnotherapy by a qualified practitioner.
What can hypnotherapy be used for?

Most any problems which manifest through the mind can be treated through hypnotherapy. Ie: weight control, giving up smoking, addictions, mild to medium depression, low self esteem, fear and phobias, including fear of flying in airplanes, fear of taking lifts, spider phobias etc.

Hypnotherapy works extremely well for motivation, (cleaning up the garage,) reducing stress and stress related illnesses, and even for sports enhancement. Hypnosis for pain control is great for people who cannot use other methods of pain control, including migraines and headaches, childbirth, dentistry, etc.

Please feel free to call me and ask about your problem. I may need to phone you back at a time suitable for both, as I may be in the process of doing a therapy at the time, so please mention what times you are available. Thank you for your interest in hypnotherapy at The Hypnotherapy Clinic.
